COVID 19 COVID & Omicron Variant
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease has since spread worldwide, leading to an ongoing pandemic.
Symptoms of COVID-19 are variable, but often include fever, cough, headache, fatigue, breathing difficulties, and loss of smell and taste. Symptoms may begin one to fourteen days after exposure to the virus. At least a third of people who are infected do not develop noticeable symptoms. Of those people who develop noticeable symptoms enough to be classed as patients, most (81%) develop mild to moderate symptoms (up to mild pneumonia), while 14% develop severe symptoms (dyspnea, hypoxia, or more than 50% lung involvement on imaging), and 5% suffer critical symptoms (respiratory failure, shock, or multiorgan dysfunction).

DiAGSure Influenza Detection kits
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Symptoms: Influenza (flu) can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Flu is different from a cold. Flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have flu often feel some or all of these symptoms: fever or feeling feverish/chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue (tiredness), some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.
- Coverage: Detects all mutants of H1N1
- Technology: 2-plex TaqMan PCR (one for target, other for internal control)
- Turn-around-time: 1 hr 15 mins
- Sensitivity: The sensitivity of the kit is less than 50 copies of in-vitro transcribed H1N1 RNA.
- Specificity: >=99%

DiAGSure Adenovirus Detection kit
Adenoviruses are a group of common viruses that infect the lining of our eyes, airways and lungs, intestines, urinary tract, and nervous system. Infections happen in children more often than in adults, but anyone can get them. Most kids will have at least one type of adenovirus infection by the time they’re 10. The infections usually cause only mild symptoms and get better on their own in a few days. But they can be more serious in people with weak immune systems, especially children.- Adenoviruses are common viruses that cause a range of illness. They can cause cold-like symptoms, fever, sore throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, diarrhea, and pink eye (conjunctivitis). You can get an adenovirus infection at any age. People with weakened immune systems or existing respiratory or cardiac disease are more likely than others to get very sick from an adenovirus infection. Adenoviruses cause acute respiratory disease (usually), pneumonia (occasionally), acute follicular conjunctivitis, epidemic keratoconjunctivitis, cystitis, and gastroenteritis (occasionally). In infants, pharyngitis and pharyngeal-conjunctival fever are common. Adenovirus infection is suggested clinically by fever, upper respiratory tract infections, and conjunctivitis.
- Specimen type: Blood and sputum.
- Technology: 2-plex TaqMan PCR (one for target, other for internal control)
- Turn-around-time: 1 hr
- Sensitivity: 3 copies of in vitro cloned viral Hexon protein gene construct.
- Specificity: 100%
Rhinovirus is a virus type of the Picornavirus family that causes many common colds and upper respiratory infections. Less commonly, these viruses may cause bronchiolitis or pneumonia. Rhinoviruses are single-stranded RNA viruses and over 100 types identified. Rhinovirus infection is easily spread from person-to-person. Symptoms of rhinovirus infection usually develop within 12-72 hours of exposure.
- Rhinoviruses are spread worldwide and are the primary cause of the common cold. Symptoms include sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing and cough; sometimes accompanied by muscle aches, fatigue, malaise, headache, muscle weakness, or loss of appetite. Most sinus findings are reversible consistent with a self-limited viral process typical of rhinovirus colds. Fever and extreme exhaustion are more usual in influenza.
- Specimen type: sputum, BAL, tracheal aspirate, nasal/oral swab in VTM.
- Technology: 2-plex TaqMan PCR (one for target, other for internal control)
- Turn-around-time: 48 hr
- Sensitivity: 100 copies of in vitro cloned viral 5’ Untranslated region (UTR) gene construct
- Specificity: >=99%
